hygiene • Recognition of hazards Occupational hygiene is primarily concerned with the control of occupational health hazards that arise as a result of, or during work. Occupational hygiene has been defined as "that science and art devoted to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of those environmental factors or stresses, arising from the place of work which cause illness, impaired health and well-being, or significant discomfort and inefficiency among workers or among citizens of the community" |
Scope
of Occupational Hygiene Services The environmental factors or stresses (risks) that may cause sickness, impaired health, discomfort or inefficiency in workers may be classified as chemical(e.g. dust, fumes), physical (e.g. noise, ventilation), biological, ergonomic and psychological. |
